What Is a Markup Calculator?

A markup calculator helps you set prices from cost or reverse-engineer how much markup you are already taking. Enter cost and markup % (or cost and selling price) to see selling price, profit, markup, and margin in one place.

How to Calculate Markup

Selling = Cost × (1 + Markup% / 100)
Markup% = ((Selling − Cost) / Cost) × 100

Profit is selling price minus cost. Margin % = Profit ÷ Selling Price × 100 — useful when comparing profitability to revenue rather than cost.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do you calculate markup percentage?

Markup% = ((Selling Price − Cost) / Cost) × 100. If cost is $50 and selling price is $75, markup is 50%.

What is the difference between markup and margin?

Markup is profit as a % of cost. Margin is profit as a % of selling price. A 50% markup equals about a 33.3% margin.

How do you find selling price from cost and markup?

Selling Price = Cost × (1 + Markup% / 100). Cost $40 with 25% markup → $50.
