How does this word counter count words?
Words are counted by splitting your text on whitespace after trimming leading and trailing spaces. Empty input counts as zero words. The count updates instantly as you type or paste.
How is reading time calculated?
Silent reading time uses 225 words per minute; speech duration uses 130 words per minute. These are common averages — adjust based on your audience and pacing.
What is the difference between characters with and without spaces?
Characters with spaces counts every letter, number, symbol, and space. Characters without spaces excludes all whitespace. Many platforms (Twitter/X, meta descriptions) specify one or the other.
