Discount Calculator: Sale Price, % Off & Stacked Deals

“30% off” only helps if you know the dollars. A free discount calculator converts percent off into sale price and savings, reverses original price from a sale tag, and handles stacked coupons the way registers do — sequentially, not by adding percents.
Use this with a percentage calculator for general percent math, or a markup calculator when you are the seller setting prices.

Sale Price From Percent Off
Sale = Original × (1 − % ÷ 100)
Example: 30% off $80
Savings = 80 × 0.30 = $24. Sale price = 80 − 24 = $56 (or 80 × 0.70).
Find Percent Off From Two Prices
From $50 to $40: (10 ÷ 50) × 100 = 20% off. Always divide by the original — dividing by the sale price inflates the “discount” and misleads comparisons.

Reverse: Original Price From Sale + %
When the tag shows sale price and “X% off” but not the old price:
$56 after 30% off → 56 ÷ 0.70 = $80. Useful for verifying advertised “was/now” claims.
Stacked Discounts: Do Not Add Percents
A 20% coupon then an extra 10% off is not 30% off. Apply the second discount to the already-reduced price:
- $100 → 20% off → $80
- $80 → 10% off → $72
- Effective discount = 28%, not 30%
Tax note: Most U.S. sales tax applies to the discounted price. Promo exclusions and “lowest price of the day” rules can change what stacks — the math still helps you compare offers.
